Public calendars

Share your schedule with the world.

Publish a calendar for your club, classes, performances or other public events. Share its link, let visitors subscribe, or display it on your own website.

Before you publish: anyone with the public link can view the events in that calendar without signing in. Use a dedicated calendar for public events and leave out private or sensitive information.

One calendar. A public link.

Choose the calendar you want to publish in the fruux webapp. Publishing makes that calendar available in a read-only format; visitors cannot edit it through the public page.

Open the calendar's settings, choose Publish calendar and copy its public link. If the option is unavailable for your account, check the available plans.

Let people subscribe.

The public page offers an iCalendar feed and a downloadable .ics file. A feed subscription lets people follow the calendar in a compatible app; how often it refreshes depends on their application. A downloaded .ics file is a snapshot, rather than an ongoing subscription.

Put the calendar on your website.

Use an iframe to embed the public page. Replace the example address below with the public calendar link you copied from fruux.

<iframe
  src="YOUR-PUBLIC-CALENDAR-LINK"
  title="Public events calendar"
  width="100%"
  height="600"
  style="border: 0">
</iframe>

Edits to your published calendar appear on the public page. To stop publishing it, choose Hide calendar in its settings. Copies that other people have already downloaded are not removed by unpublishing.

Customize the calendar you embed.

You can set the initial view and display formats by adding options to your public calendar link. Use the same link in the iframe's src attribute.

Display optionExample
Week view (also day, month or list)calendarView=week
24-hour time (or 12)timeFormat=24
Start the week on MondaystartOfWeek=1
Day/month/year dates (also MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD)dateFormat=DD/MM/YYYY
Display timezonetimezone=Europe/Berlin

For example, append ?calendarView=week to open your calendar in week view. Add further options with &, such as &timeFormat=24. If your link already contains ?, use & for the next option.

These options control how the public page opens; they do not change the events or the settings in your visitors' calendar apps.
